Here's
Hillary on Meet the Press today. She now supports a firm timetable for withdrawal from Iraq, and made the talk show circuit to promote this new position, going on all five major Sunday shows. As you can see from this video, her answer is very strong. I've talked about
Hillary's shrewdness on the Iraq issue before, and this falls into the same category. She's moving along with public opinion, and expanding her criticisms and demands as public frustration grows. Russert's complaint that she is changing her views falls flat, since Democratic voters have been angered over precisely the inflexibility of President Bush. The
LA Times reports that "President Bush plans to ask Congress this week for nearly $200 billion to fund the war through the end of next year." Hillary is able to be the first out to oppose this war funding. Obama has missed a beat here. Hillary wins this round.
