This month John Edwards has dropped in the polls in New Hampshire, according to Campaigns and Elections:
The most drastic move in recent months has been the decline of former U.S. Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C. One year ago, Edwards was in second place with 22 percent, just 8 points behind Clinton. In the most recent poll, Edwards dropped into fourth place, with 8 percent, behind New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who came in with 10 percent. [Political Science Professor Dante] Scala attributes this drop to Edwards’ message.
“I don’t think New Hampshire is the best fit for him and his message,” said Scala. “It’s much more populist. That kind of message doesn’t play as well here as compared with other states. … It’s a place where Democrats, while socially liberal, economically they are not that liberal. It’s more of a free-trade state.”
