McCain said this in his victory speech, which was in front of a huge American flag:
Now, we begin the most important part of our campaign: to make a respectful, determined and convincing case to the American people that our campaign and my election as president, given the alternatives presented by our friends in the other party, are in the best interests of the country we love.
The country WE LOVE--here's the strategy I posted on yesterday. Does Obama reflexively love his country, is he patriotic enough, proud enough? Is his wife proud enough? We need a name for this; how about McCain's alterization strategy. The Clintons tried the ghettoization strategy, which hasn't really worked. More than likely McCain's won't either. Obama was already responding in his victory speech: "We will not stand for a politics that uses religion as a wedge, and patriotism as a bludgeon."
